Local Locksmith Stories from Stevenage area
Most people never ever call out a locksmith but on the odd occasion …
Snow and ice won't stop us....
A lady rang me in the middle of the first cold spell, late evening wanting a locksmith as quickly as possible as she was locked out. I said I could be there in approx 15 min's. When I arrived she was standing there so cold she was crying, she told me she was ringing around, not for the best price but for who could genuinely get there the quickest. When I got her in she could not thank me enough, as I gave her the invoice she told me she had been quoted over twice what I had charged her. One extremely happy customer, hopefully she's now thawed out.
Security conscious of Stevenage
I was called by a customer in Stevenage, to do a small job (remove a padlock from a shed). While chatting, the chap was telling me about prices he had been charged previously for some jobs by other Locksmiths.
He asked me for a quote to fit extra security to his garage door. After I removed the padlock on his shed we walked to his garage across the road. As well as the original garage locking handle he had previously had 4 extra padlocks / pad bolts fitted. I explained he did not need any more security as he already had more than enough. He was very insistent and told me if I didn’t do it he would get another locksmith. I reluctantly agreed a price because I did not want him being ripped off. In order to fit the pad bolts and padlocks I had to open the garage door, which was like fort knox. Inside was a little rusty fiesta worth about £400.00 and it had 4 wheel clamps (1 on each wheel) a steering wheel lock and a hand brake to gear lever lock! A slight overkill on security, the locks were worth more than the car.
It is always good to put an extra lock or padlock on a garage for extra security especially when the garage is in a block but this took the biscuit. I also see other extremes, people with Ferraris and not an extra lock or padlock in sight.
Hitchin show house lock in
I was called to a new build in Hitchin (a show house) where a lady was locked in an en-suite bath room on 3rd floor of town house.
Any one know a good local locksmith?
Don’t laugh, I comfort a lot of people who feel a bit foolish and embarrassed by locking them selves out telling them the day I locked my self out of my van and the tools to get back in were inside. Any one know a good locksmith?
Obviously not all jobs are the same, some take seconds, some a good few minutes and some a few hours when there are several locks to be changed or up grades needed. But by calling a reputable local locksmith you can be sure of a fair job at a fair price ring for free quotes now.
